Mgr. Alžběta Frank Danielisová, Ph.D.

Research work package leader No. 3

Contacts:

e-mail: danielisova@arup.cas.cz

She is systematically devoted to the research and interpretation of a series of geochemical data and to the development of methods for the application of provenance and technological analyses to archaeological materials using new or non-standard procedures. Her research applications include metallic materials (primarily copper alloys) and biological materials from the environments of Central and Northern Europe and Southern Arabia.

Mgr. et Mgr. Ludmila Kaňáková Hladíková, Ph.D

As part of the project, she is researching the economic life of prehistoric populations in relation to raw material sources and their transport. She analyses the stability or flexibility of technological procedures by which raw materials are processed. She examines the processes in which the final products are used, repaired, recycled and discarded from their economic roles. She primarily focuses on lithic and ceramic material culture.

Dr. Maria Pia Maiorano

Within the project, she deals with lithic industry, mainly of the New Stone Age (Neolithic), with a focus on the technological procedures of stone tool production and the dissemination of technologies in the context of African, Asian and European prehistory. In her research, she applies experimental methods, morphometry and specially created data analytics.

Mgr. Jan Petřík, Ph.D.

Within the project, he is coordinating geoscience team members and analytical activities in the areas of petrography, geochemistry and data analysis. It focuses on the technological traditions of prehistoric to modern pottery production, with an emphasis on evidence of long-distance exchange of goods and technologies. He is interested in the interactions of human populations, environment and climate.

Senior researcher

No description

Mgr. Dalibor Všianský, Ph.D.

Within the project, he deals with powder X-ray diffraction analysis. He focuses on optical polarization microscopy. He also collaborates on the publication of results.

Email: dalibor@sci.muni.cz

Ing. Jiří Hošek Ph.D.

He deals with the analysis of metallic materials, especially iron. His expert examination covers the entire production chain of iron artefacts, where he primarily uses metallography and geochemistry to focus on the development of technological procedures and their dissemination.

Email: hosek@arup.cas.cz

doc. Mgr. Petr Květina, Ph.D.

He specializes in the Neolithic period and the theory of knowledge of archaic societies. The project addresses issues of social cohesion and identity tracing in pre-state societies, primarily through the methodology of cross-cultural research. It also focuses on ways of presenting the knowledge gained to the public in a comprehensible and engaging way.

Junior researcher

No description

Mgr. Bc. Karel Slavíček, Ph.D.

As part of the project, he deals with the analysis of archaeological ceramics. He focuses on determining their chemical and petrographic composition and technological characteristics. Through a comprehensive evaluation of all results, he contributes to interpretations that overlap with the socio-economic relations of past societies.

Email: slav.karel@sci.muni.cz

No description

Mgr. Daniel Bursák

He specializes in the analyses of metallic materials and statistical evaluation of their results, which he uses to study contacts between societies, to examine economic behaviour that accompanies the turning points in history, and to follow up the sustainability in the sourcing of basic raw materials. The results of the study contribute to the understanding of historical economic systems and their influence on the present.

Mgr. Eliška Zazvonilová

Within the project, she focuses on stress marks on the skeleton and stress and growth signals in hard tissues. Using new trends in palaeohistology and microscopy, she tries to evaluate the level of stress in prehistoric and medieval populations.

Ph.D. student

No description

Mgr. Anna Nováčková

As part of the project, she participates in the analysis of artefacts and by-products resulting from the processing of hard animal tissues. She analyses data regarding the production, function and microremains.

Email: anna.novackova@phil.muni.cz

No description

Mgr. Markéta Havlíková

Within the project, she analyses raw-material, technological, functional and deposition data, especially of copper alloy artefacts and by-products of their production.

RNDr. Kristýna Trnová

As part of the project, she is involved in the analysis of archaeological ceramics from the perspective of petrography and mineralogy. She studies the provenance of the raw materials used. From the petrographic and mineralogical point of view, she deals with the polished stone industry, its composition and provenance.

Email: trnova@sci.muni.cz

Mgr. Jan Volf

Within the project, he deals with the analysis of pottery from the Late La Tène Period and its comparison with pottery from the Early Roman Period in terms of the materials used, production method and visual attributes. Based on the results, he examines the differences in the organization of production and distribution of ceramic vessels in both these periods, showing the functioning and transformations of the socio-economic network in the course of the first century BC.

Mgr. Jiří Šnebeger

Within the project, he focuses on the analysis of several human skeletal assemblages, the application of dental anthropological procedures and a number of natural science methods in order to reconstruct as much of the life and death of past populations as possible and to interpret stress factors that could have affected the examined individuals and were recorded in bone and dental tissue.
